Outcomes

Using lecture and hands-on activities, this 1-day, instructor-led course presents the new features and enhancements in IBM Lotus Domino Designer 7. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to describe and demonstrate how these new features can be implemented in Domino 7 applications.

Prerequisites

Experience creating Domino 6/6.5 applications for Notes and the Web.
Experience coding in Java and JavaScript, or LotusScript is a plus but not required

The target audience for this course is application developers who have experience developing Domino 6/6.5 applications for Notes and the Web and who wish to learn about the new features in Domino Designer 7.

Programming Enhancements
  • Identify the new @functions.

  • Identify new LotusScript methods and properties.
  • Debug a Java agent remotely using Eclipse.

Exposing Domino Data in DB2
  • Identify the requirements for enabling a Domino 7 server for DB2 access.
  • Identify the conditions when DB2 will be used as the alternate data store.
  • Identify the purpose of a DAV.
  • Create a DAV.
  • Set properties for a DAV and for DAV entries.
  • Modify a DAV.
  • View the table created in the DB2 Control Center.
  • Describe DAV security.
Reading Data from DB2
  • Describe a Query view
  • Create a Query view
  • Manage data in Query views

Creating Web Services
  • Define Web services.
  • Describe how a Web service can be used within Domino.
  • Create a Web service using LotusScript.
  • Test a Web service.
